The Director
I began my career in Briards in 1985 while living in Los Angeles, California. I was working as a costume designer on a motion picture when the Producer approached me, reporting that his big woolly sheep dog was constantly purloining tennis balls and leaping with them into the family swimming pool. He knew I lived on 11 acres in the country and that we bred and raised Quarter Horses. He asked if I could please take this ball-thief off of his hands, give the dog a home with room to romp, which would then allow him and his friends to finally complete a tennis game.
Envisioning a big, Old English sheep dog, I thought about it and since my two dogs, a German Shepherd and an Aussie, were aging, I told the Producer, sure, let me meet him.
Winston-the-tennis-ball-thief lived to 14 years of age and became the founding partner in Enchanted Briards Kennels.
Many years and many Briards later, Steve and I now reside near Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the Briard occupies a large role in our lives. All Enchanted Briards perform in show conformation and then veer into performance, herding, agility, obedience, and carting.

After many years of "brown" in New Mexico, my husband, Steve and I decided to also go "green" , and bought a 34 acre horse farm outside Lexington in the heart of horse country, transported the horses, bought new sheep and moved into the old farmhouse while building a new house. We will be back and forth between New Mexico and Kentucky enjoying the best of both states.
